A superintendent, elementary and secondary school principal, general supervisor, and secondary school social studies teacher, Sid has achieved success in a variety of roles in the field of education. Sid earned his undergraduate psychology degree at Duke University and his Masters in Education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the education and community service program.
Most recently Sid has spent four years as the superintendent of the Malden Public School District. During his tenure, the number of students enrolled in AP classes increased and student achievement on those exams improved. Furthermore, Malden ranked first in student growth on the English Language Arts and Mathematics MCAS compared to demographically similar districts. Before working in Malden, Sid spent 12 years as the Curriculum and Instructional Practices Director for the Boston Public Schools, updating learning standards, supporting principals and other leaders with curriculum implementation, and designing and implementing professional development opportunities among many other things.
Sid also was Director of the ATLAS project which included the Coalition of Essential Schools at Brown University, English High School Headmaster for the Boston Public Schools, and held various teaching positions at Dorchester High School, Grover Cleveland Middle School, and Falmouth Public Schools.
