Beyond Mentoring

Beyond Mentoring 3 sets forth a vision and a comprehensive model for the induction of beginning teachers that has been used effectively by districts across the country. This model is based on the development of a plan that coherently brings together the many ways that schools must support their newest staff members so that they will be effective classroom teachers. It describes ways that others in the school community- veteran mentor teachers, administrators, other staff at the school—must understand their responsibility for reaching out to new teachers, including them in the school’s learning community, and providing them with the encouragement, resources, beliefs, and attitudes that will contribute to their success in the classroom.
