David Castelline
It has been a pleasure to spend close to 40 years working in schools as a teacher, coach and principal. I was very fortunate to start my career in the Concord Public Schools where I taught physical education at the elementary and middle school levels, taught math and science to middle school students, was a Science Department Chair and a teaching Assistant Principal. I also coached 3 different sports from the sub-varsity to varsity level at Concord-Carlisle High School.
In 1992, I became the principal of the Underwood School in Newton, where I served happily for 19 years before retiring in 2011. Most recently I have been the interim principal at the Fitzgerald School in Waltham.
In addition to my work in public schools, I have been very fortunate to work for two outstanding organizations providing professional development for teachers and school leaders. For the past 10 years I have been teaching and supervising prospective school leaders with the Educator Leadership Institute (ELI), sponsored by EDCO. Currently I serve as the Director of the ELI program. In addition I have had the good fortune to work as consultant for Teachers21 for the past 2 years, providing professional development for systems implementing the new educator evaluation system and coaching principals.
Areas of Focus
I have done the majority of work providing professional development to districts implementing the new educator evaluation system. I have also been active coaching principals and running support groups for principals. My primary areas of focus are in all areas of leadership, and supervision/evaluation.
