New Teacher Support and Mentor Training

Quality mentoring of beginning teachers has been shown to increase satisfaction and competence in teaching, professional growth, and retention.  Teachers 21 provides support to ensure that districts get the most from their investment in new teacher support and mentoring.  One or more of the following services are often requested by districts:

  • An orientation program that highlights the knowledge and skills that mentors must bring to their assignments
  • Follow-up forums for mentors to discuss their professional responsibilities and practice problem solving and receive constructive feedback
  • Consultation on designing and establishing a mentor program that fits the specific district context
